Drug addiction changes people's behavior. Drug and alcohol abusers can change it back by gaining greater abilities and skills. Ending addiction doesn't require submission, as much as it requires admission that they could use some help out of their mess.

However, there is such a thing as a drug personality. It is artificial and is created by drug and alcohol abuse. Besides the physical effects of the drugs on their mind, the drug abusers lifestyle forms a significant part of their character.

Drug Personality Traits -- An alcohol or a drug abuser will eventually:

Lie to family, friends, and employers

Become unreliable

Have mood swing

Be dishonest

Become secretive and distant

Their drug personality will cause them to commit wrong doings for which they'll feel guilty. Guilt is a major cause of former drug abusers continual relapse.

Have you ever asked yourself why drug and alcohol abusers have low self-esteem?

The oxford English Dictionary defines "self-esteem" as: confidence in one's own worth or abilities.

While drug and alcohol abusers tend to justify their actions and abuse to reaffirm their rightness, deep inside, they know that they're being harmful to themselves and to the ones around them. They know it as they lie and steel from others and feel guilty about it.

Mental depression is a consequence of low self esteem and guilt.

Sometimes drug & alcohol abusers will try artificial means to boost their self esteem by wearing, for example, expensive brand name clothing, or putting on an air of confidence but these artificial means don't really work. The only real way to improve their self esteem is for them to increase their real worth to themselves and the ones around them.

For that a drug or alcohol abuser will need to do a lot of good. And for that they'll need to once again improve their abilities to honestly and successfully deal with the challenges of life. While changing one's behavior is not a new idea, the fact that behavior is actually creating an artificial drug personality is new.

Solving The Drug Personality

If a person goes to meetings they may or may not change their ways enough to get the full benefit of their support group. Factually, people only accept the amount of help they believe they deserve. If a person continues dishonest living, their rehabilitation will be sabotaged by themselves more than the lack of perceived efficacy of a support program.

Removing a drug or alcohol abuser from their environment long enough for them to change their ways, is helpful when you see a continued pattern of dishonest behavior -- the drug personality. But if the drug abuser isn't rapidly straightening up, you'll need to get them to a good rehab that fully addresses their guilt.

The solution to handling the underlying causes of the 'drug personality' is to rid a drug abuser or alcoholic of their guilt and then teach them the necessary skills to make a real difference in their life and the lives of the ones they love.

Top Five Signs of Prescription Drug Addiction

Drug and alcohol addiction plagues numerous Americans. One of the most recent addictions many Americans face today is to prescription drugs. The harsher reality of prescription drug addiction is that most Americans do not realize they are suffering from an addiction until it is too late. If there is a belief that either you or someone you know may be afflicted with this dependence, here are the top five signs of prescription drug addiction which may help to confirm any assumption:

Increase in prescription drug use

One of the most tell-tale signs of prescription drug dependency is an escalation in use. The drugs they are taking are no longer working as effectively, so they may increase the dose without first consulting a doctor. If you notice that you or someone else you know is becoming more tolerant of the drugs they are taking and require a larger dose, then that is a sign that they may have a dependency.

Personality change

A common side effect of prescription drug abuse is a change in overall personality. The afflicted may isolate themselves from loved ones or withdraw from social interaction entirely. Most addicted persons are embarrassed of their dependence and do not want their peers to judge them for it. Sometimes the addicted may find solace in his or her drug use and would prefer to do it alone.

Creating excuses to fill more prescriptions

Those that are addicted to prescription drugs are conscious of the fact that in order to obtain more drugs, they must either get a prescription, or find a seedier method such as a drug dealer. Most addicted persons will complain of additional ailments to gain more prescriptions. Some may fill prescriptions at other pharmacies, traveling great lengths to get their medications.

Forgetfulness

Most people with a drug dependency will show the negative side effects of the medication they are on fairly quickly, and more noticeably, with abuse. One of the most common side effects of popular prescription drug brands is fatigue. Someone who is addicted to these drugs is more likely to be increasingly absentminded and inattentive given his or her lethargy.

Defensiveness

This being one of the most common signs, defensiveness from the assumed addict can indicate a dependency, especially if they are also suffering from the aforementioned signs. A common addict will dispute any claim of reliance on his or her prescription medications and may lash out at his or her accuser.

Drug Rehab Programs That Work and Their Stats

Drug addiction and alcoholism ruins families. The majority of calls I get close to the alcohol and illicit drugs, not abusers themselves. Parents, spouses and children of addicts suffer. They are asking for help.

As an aid to the people I work for here is a study that I made on rehabilitation programs, their costs and effectiveness displayed.

First a clarification of rehabilitation programs:

      * 95% of rehabilitation centers follow Step 12 / medical rehabilitation, alias "you have an illness, accept it and we can help mitigate the problems"
      * 5% use social education, others, self-help, empowerment, psycho-socio-behavioral methods of recovery
      * The national average success rate in the United States and Canada is approximately 22%. This is lower in my hometown (10%) according to the mayor of our past

Why is this important? For those of you strong in math, you'll quickly realize that the majority of rehabilitation programs or traditional rehabilitation, is a majority of customers rehabilitation intermittently to abuse back with 75% + return to abusive practices. I think the term "spin dry" has emerged because of this.

What about the remaining 5% of the methods of rehabilitation program?

I made a list of some of their posted success rates and costs. By the way, I think focusing on what works and made it my career to find other (non-12 Step and non-medical) programs actually end that addiction.

If you're looking for results, then we are both on the same page.

4 Rehab Programs or strategies that work

      * Use emergency room brief interventions and Cage (see "Drug testing can do now" Palatinus) the reduction of damage caused to individuals by 47% (6 months). These approaches are generally intervention performed by professionals, doctors and therapists
      * Interview motivational, a method of education and social rehabilitation, is promising
      * Bio-physical education combined with social or lifestyle modification approaches. They get 70% to 90% of long-term success. Usually take 1 to 6 months on average. Prices range from $ 6,000 to $ 18,000 per month
      * Alternative, results-based "high end" rehabilitation centers. The cost is $ 40,000 + per month, is 70% to 80% long-term recovery

So why are not more people using these methods?

     1. Centers either do not have much money to the centers or therapists and not sufficiently promote the internal alias lobbyists or centers are available to those in higher income levels only. Being the new guy on the block, often financed by health plans et al, both types are relatively unknown.
     2. People in crisis situations are often not thinking. I am talking now about families in the crisis of alcohol or drug abuse loved ones. Shock may last longer than many would suspect. Some are in shock for years after a crisis.

The lesson here is: Do you have a difficult time if you have a loved abuse of drugs / alcohol. This will one day pass, but can you afford the cost of inaction or the same thing and get similar results?

The rehabilitation of drug work if done correctly. Rehabilitation professionals, especially those impartial to traditional methods of recovery, "because that is how they recovered", can greatly improve your chances of a successful conclusion to treatment.

The 7 Golden Rules of Saving Drug & Alcohol Abusers

Any person who participates in a drug or alcohol abuser or are intimately involved with someone abuse can be manipulated. The full recognition of the consequences of their abuse will be moving
            * Do not do nothing: support groups sometimes encourage a passive roll to intervene between a course in disaster response and rehabilitation. Therefore, an alcohol and drug intervention. If a family is ready to confront them with an effective solution to their addiction or not, while doing research this on the Internet shows that you're willing to do this. The success of drug and alcohol rehabilitation is the most important thing for people who have a loved one addicted to drugs or alcohol.

Drug and alcohol interventions are most effective if done the right way. Having the family prepared to do is the most important and always the first step. Once the family is aware of this problem can not go on society intervention is the next step. The coordinator of the intervention and then go on what steps should be taken to ensure that the most effective intervention possible. Once everyone is on the same page interventionist will travel to meet with the family. The meeting before the intervention is usually called "family day". Usually, the day before the intervention, Family Day, is essential to have a go smoothly. Of course we are talking about a person who has been lying, cheating and perhaps even to fly smoothly with regard to what a drug and alcohol intervention deals.

During family day, the intervention specialist to sensitize all stakeholders on activation the tough love, addiction, drug rehabilitation programs, and most important the family is strong enough to sit and so of intent and love, to obtain individual dependency to finally accept help. I understand how bleak, but 90 percent of the people who struggle with alcohol or drugs accept help and decides to go into a residential drug rehabilitation. The best situation is of course a person to enter the long-term rehabilitation of drug, but the first step is that he or she to go.

One of the main reasons a person is afraid to go knows the physical withdrawal from drugs such as heroin, drugs such as painkillers, and alcohol. One of the things that intervention can help you find is not only a central processing, but also a medical detoxification to keep a person from having to go through extreme pain and discomfort. A quality of medical detoxification offers a comfortable stay and the environment around 1-2 weeks of treatment to a person Taper down so they can enter safely in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center. In fact, some treatment centers must be medically detoxed before including them in their establishment. Many drug rehab have a private detoxification on the site and can offer medical treatment and rehabilitation as well as an after-care.

Realize that to overcome an addiction to drugs or alcohol is not an easy task. If it was our country does no more than 22 million addicts. What we must do is recognize that the problem come together as a team and do what it takes to put this person we love and care on this point. There are only three things that will happen to a person who is addicted to drugs and alcohol. They will die, go to jail or go to the rehabilitation and assistance. It is everything and the last is the best option for everyone.

Detox Directions - Not For Amateurs

Vicodin Addiction Is One Of The Worst

Anyone addicted to Vicodin can expect to experience a number of debilitation side effects, including severe depression and a lessening of their cognitive skills. They may soon confuse the pain-reducing properties of Vicodin with the emotional and physical high it provides, and the craving for that high can become so obsessive that it will drive Vicodin addicts to lie, cheat, steal, or do somebody else bodily harm in order to get their fix. Vicodin addiction has serious consequences for all of us.

Vicodin is psychologically as well as physically addictive, and will cause mild dependency with only a few weeks of use. But as the addiction to Vicodin grows, it can even supplant the addict's desires for food and drink, and Vicodin addicts find that they need larger and larger amounts of the drug to satisfy their cravings. They will run roughshod over their families and friends in their attempts to get the drug, and eventually their addiction will consume their every waking moment.

The need for an answer to Vicodin addiction has led many health experts to formulate Vicodin detox directions aimed at helping addicts to cleanse their systems of the traces of Vicodin which have accumulated in their tissues. These Vicodin detox directions should be followed only under the supervision of a qualified medical drug rehabilitation facility.

Vicodin Detox Requires Professional Help

Because the symptoms which accompany Vicodin withdrawal are painful both physically and psychologically, they must be managed by medical experts. Any Vicodin detox directions which suggest otherwise are not to be believed. Only a medical expert trained in administering Vicodin detoxification procedures will be prepared to manage whatever behavioral or health issues which surface in his or her patient in the first days of Vicodin detoxification.

One of the significant Vicodin detox directions is that the actual physical cleansing of the body from traces of Vicodin must be accompanied by a program of counseling and individual and group therapy. No one can recover from a drug addiction of any kind without addressing the emotional and psychological consequences of the withdrawal process as well as the physical ones.

Vicodin detox directions require that every trace of Vicodin be removed from the patient's system because even the smallest residue is enough to trigger cravings for the medication. And they also say that the earlier in a patient's addiction that the detoxification process can begin, the less severe the withdrawal symptoms will be.

The Latest Report is in on Home Drug Tests For Teens

Perhaps you have been noticing changes in your teens behavior, some subtle and some not so subtle. Body piercings, tattoos, odd torn clothing or joining a rock band, even though he doesn't play an instrument and can't sing. Is he on drugs or is it just a phase that he is going though? Should you get a home drug test and force him to take it and how accurate will it be? What if it gives a false positive?

Common Drug Tests

There are a now a number of reliable home drug tests that are available for use and all of them require that they be sent back to the laboratory for testing. They test for a number of types pf drugs but the most commonly used test for marijuana, methamphetemine and opiates.

A Long Lonely Wait

The fact that they have to be sent off and require a waiting period does create its own problems. Ideally a parent would like to have a test that a kid pees on and it instantly turns red if they have been using drugs but his just isn't the case. So, there you are stuck waiting possibly for weeks while junior ridicules you and psychs you into thinking it is coming back negative.

Inherent Flaws

The big problem is that there are ways to bypass these types of tests such as simply pouring tap water over it. Also, if your teen is in an area that he doesn't have access to tap water he can simply use a fake rubber penis with a clean urine sample that he has purchased over the Internet.

12 Step Rehab Alternatives - 9 Principals of Non-12 Step Recovery

12 Step support meetings, getting a sponsor, declaring oneself an 'addict' or alcoholic etc, helps many through recovery. But what about those who don't feel they're powerless or addicted for life? What's the alternative to 12 Step?

Alternative 12 Step Rehab and non 12 Step support group programs exist in record numbers. I've listed the 9 basic principals of social education (non-12 Step) rehab that seem to reflect the basic philosophy of alternative drug and alcohol rehab.

What Is 12 Step and What 12 Step Isn't

Alternatives to the 12 Step program exist more than ever, but many of these programs cost money. For those looking for a 'free ride' through recovery, support groups or going to church / meetings, 12 Step and non-12 Step meetings and reading books on recovery is still your best route. 12 Step recovery was formulated as a fellowship and support group.

12 Step is factually not a full rehabilitation program. 12 Step is a support system for those in recovery. 12 Step is not a substitute for formal detox and rehab for those in need of these treatments.

An Alternative 12 Step Program For Your Recovery

The major alternative to 12 Step programs are called social educational programs. Some other psychologically based programs are not technically 12 Step, as the majority of them use 12 Step as an adjunct to their program, they are 12 Step dependent or based, so aren't alternatives to 12 Step.

What is a social educational drug / alcohol detox & rehab program?

Social educational programs differ from the 12 Step method by focusing on improving latent or not learned and developed abilities.

Key Principal: Drug & alcohol addiction rises one out of the obsession and compulsions to abuse drugs and alcohol.

Social Education Rehab Simplified - 9 Principals Of Recovery

Addiction is not a disease

No one has to admit they are 'powerless' - factually one is fully responsible for their own condition

Drug & alcohol abusers lack the skills and abilities to end their abuse, skills they can develop

One can and should end their dependency to drugs / alcohol through their own efforts

The person themselves are responsible for their recovery

Participation in the process of gaining greater control, responsibility and knowledge of their lives will assist their own recovery

Drug / alcohol abuse is just one of the issues to deal with in rehab, factually drinking and drugging is not the root of the problem, it's a symptom

Recovering is not recovered.

Lastly addiction, like a bad headache or heartache, has an ending

Social Educational Rehab programs deal with root issues, not symptoms of these issues (like drug abuse). Properly, one can't address these root issues while on drugs or alcohol. The very corner stone of improvement and greater ability is self control and accountability. With these corner stones in place, rehab has a foundation. Therefore Social Educational rehab programs build up skills, natural health, abilities and confidences in their students / clients.

Can you gain self control and accountability without some help or specifically from a social educational rehab program?

If there have been many private and public attempts to regain control of oneself and there have been failures, look at the painting on the wall. If one can't or won't change, getting help is recommended as things are out of control.

Help can be initiated by oneself or by the family / friends of the drug or alcohol abuser. This means one can ask for help. Look closely at the different options as your recovery will be dependent on which method of rehabilitation you participate in. If the rehab method doesn't meet with your agreement and understanding, do you think you'll participate in it? Your participation is expected in your recovery.

Social Educational rehab is one alternative to the 12 Step approach that achieves 60% to 90% success rates. Social educational programs are based on becoming powerful again without drugs or alcohol.

Several Ways To Treat Drug Addiction

The road to addiction and destruction is broad and smooth, but the road to recovery is narrow and fraught with pitfalls. However, collective efforts are afoot to minimize the availability of medicines. Efforts to break drug addicts and a new blow in their life have also gathered momentum. Rehabilitation centres for drug addicts have been deployed with best methods to cope with addiction and it is very encouraging to note that many of these addicts who would otherwise have gone to their graves as failures, have found new meaning in life because of dialogue, pragmatic and result honest efforts of these centres.

Various methods are used for different types of patients. The family and social origin, behavioral traits, likes and dislikes and any other feature of a person is analyzed before being submitted to detoxification. Because of the extension and uncontrolled use of medicines, chemicals and other toxins generated inside the body which increases the desire of several quantities of drugs. These toxins actually control the lifestyles of drug addicts.

The first step is used for detoxification. The body is free of these undesirable substances with the help of drugs. The traditional means used to what has often been considered difficult and painful, and many addicts to regain their dependence stage cravings as return.

However, rehabilitation centers use modern means of detoxification. The method is rapid detoxification are successful for patients addicted to substances like heroin and opium. The Waismann method is used to clean receptors in the brain of an addict of drugs. However, the patient must be kept unconscious during treatment. The advantage is that the addict experiences not prudent withdrawal. The draw back is that being a mandatory physical detoxification method, it does not investigate the root causes of drug addiction and does not offer advice on how to deal with future problems. Only highly qualified and experienced professionals can do so safely and efficiently.

For people suffering from a serious addiction, long-term treatment methods as Narconon method must be used. A maximum of six months, these methods use exercises, yoga and steam baths to eliminate toxins from the body instead of medicines. After detoxification of the body, efforts are being made to get the psychological root cause of the problem. Psychiatric means are totally avoided. Patients are advised to learn the lessons of the past. They are also helped to develop the skills they had not, after which they fell into this quagmire, making them confident, autonomous brave to confront the world, where May is gaining ground.

The advantage of this method Narconon waismann on the method is that chemicals are administered, and in most cases, the results are eternal. Although it is only natural detoxification, the former deals with mental detoxification. Although waismann method can be used by hospitals with trained professionals, the only drug rehabilitation centers may administer the method Narconon.

Curing of Drug Addiction

Changing lifestyles and the pressures caused by them have contributed to an explosion in the number of addicts into society. Whether the lack of courage or inability to cope with difficulties, lack of self-confidence, depression, loss of loved ones, there are umpteen reasons for people suffering from this destructive threat, which, if allowed to flourish unchecked, has the potential to destroy human civilization itself.

The dangers that drugs and drug addiction poses to society have not gone unnoticed. While governments around the world waging a war less than compromise on the drug barons and drug companies, some people lit, pathetic to see the bottom of addicts who fall, are trying hard to bring these abuses of the society by the revival of drugs through rehabilitation programmes.

Some addicts try to close in on themselves. However, the success rate is not encouraging, because the desire for drugs still linger. Traditional treatments have also been not very successful because of the absence of pro-active rehabilitation measures. Modern drug treatment and rehabilitation centres treat the root causes of drug addiction, thus preventing its recurrence.

These centres employ various rehabilitation measures for different persons, in accordance with their needs. However, all recovery programs have identified three steps taken in. The first phase of detoxification, where, with the help of drugs, the remains of toxic chemicals generated or induced in the body because of drug abuse are rinsed. The second stage of therapy, helps the body adapt to the lack of availability of these substances, which at one time were very essential for its survival. The third is the integration stage where the person is relieved learned to overcome difficulties with courage and win the confidence and dignity.

Midfielders social an addict, his personality, and the level of dependency are considered while deciding on rehabilitation measures that are better suited for him. That's where scores of rehabilitation centres on traditional means. The biggest advantage is that people are provided with normal living conditions in the centres and are provided with counseling sessions to soothe frayed their minds and strengthen their self-confidence. The lack of capacity for the body to respond to non-availability of drugs is often reflected by physical symptoms. However, treatment centres employ counselling and therapy to overcome.

Drug addiction is like a deep-rooted plants that are difficult to uproot and destroy oneself or the people around him. The rehabilitation centres, with their expertise and resources can not do it for him on a permanent basis. It is therefore wise to approach such a centre, rather than the slug itself, to escape the influence of drugs.

Hope For the Narcotic Addict

Opioids are drugs that have properties relieve pain. Drugs that fall into this category - also known as narcotics - are morphine, codeine, and oxycodone. Other examples of drugs prescribed to relieve the pain of propoxyphene; hydrocodone, hydromorphone, meperidine.

Opioids attach to proteins called opioid receptors, found in the brain, spinal cord, and gastrointestinal tract. When these drugs attach to opioid receptors they block the transmission of pain messages to the brain. In addition to relieving pain, opioids can have an impact on regions of the brain that mediate pleasure, resulting in the initial euphoria that many products opiates. The euphoria is what users of drugs that are intended to become addicted are looking first. The euphoria that their experience, and can not live without them apart from the normal person who stops taking the medication when the pain has disappeared.

Research has indicated that a section of mesencephalon called the nucleus accumbens plays a central role in the reward circuit mental animals, like humans and rats. This circuit generates feelings of pleasure in response to drugs and other things like food, sex and, in humans, the work done. Drugs like heroin, however, seem more stimulating the normal process of reward so intensely that users value their next fix more than food, water and other essentials.

Unfortunately, the chronic use of opioids can result in tolerance to drugs so that higher doses must be taken to achieve the same effects. The long-term use may also lead to physical dependence - the body gets used to the presence of drugs and withdrawal symptoms occur if use is sharply reduced. A person dependent on drugs is both a physical and psychological dependence on drugs.

In a recent study by scientists, in collaboration with rats, found a gene called AGS3 which is involved in the production of appetite and pleasure associated with drugs. Then, using complex technology and a complex series of experiments, they produced a gene-blocking that has prevented the relapse into drug-blocking effect of AGS3 and elimination of these desires. The treatment produced no other behavior observed side effects. Hooray! Liberated from the drug rats! That is bad news; clearly this discovery other needs refining (actually a lot) before being ready for the shelves. But for anyone who is or has been, or knows someone who is or was addicted to opiates, the discovery offers hope that we are one step closer to a cure.

The Question of Teenagers and Drug Abuse Needs Our Undivided Attention

Drug abuse among adolescents has reached dramatic levels. No matter how you're on it, your teens will be definitively established the drug to school, the very place you believe to be a safe environment is the place they have attacked the problem .. Mrs. Reagan "Just say no to drugs" campaign fell flat on his face. The fact is that adolescents perceive adults as old as stupid people do not know anything. Adults, they try to May, faces a battle to protect their children against the devastating effects of drugs.

The struggle is more difficult by the fact that most of us have drugs in our bedroom drawers. When addressing the issue of adolescents and drugs, it must present a rational argument which draws a distinction between the necessary medicines and street drugs. It is not easy. Some drugs are peddled in schools as a way to catch a buzz. Teenagers do not know that these drugs are issued in duplicate or triplicate, as a means of controlling the use of certain drugs. Not having seen a legitimate need for these drugs themselves, they conclude May well as their parents face, and taste some high they are in some way be prohibited.

Another problem with education of children on the issue of drug abuse among adolescents is that society does not differentiate between drugs. Some medications have a place, but when it comes to adolescents and drugs, we say that each drug is bad. This is a deception. Some children need medication for a legitimate state. Not used as prescribed this medicine can obtain a high child who does not need. Sometimes this medicine can have disastrous consequences when used as a "recreational" drugs.

Children are not able to make these distinctions. For instance, a person with severe pain caused by arthritis or cancer, may be prescribed codeine or other opiates to relieve pain. Children do not understand that this patient is not high. The medication does dulls the pain. However, in the world of teenagers and drugs, this becomes an amazing opportunity to get high. They do not know the difference.

Much deception that encourages drug use among teenagers is the fable of the pot. This street drug is posed as a first step to addiction, thrown into the same category as PCP and ice. The trial record that primary school child tries to weed, the child sees that, even if it is high and they like, they can hide this new habit of their parents and it does not make them crazy. They come to the conclusion that the rest of the warnings on adolescents and drugs are lies. That is why they fall into the trap of drug insidiously dangerous.

As a society, we must teach our children. Teach them the effects of drugs. The cocaine, crack, heroin and drugs as "ecstasy can destroy their lives or kill them. Tell the truth. We can defend our children.Addiction is a terrible problem in our society today, but with the "good" education, we can teach our future generations with the realities of addiction and drug abuse.

Indications of Teen Drug Abuse - List of Behavioral and Physical Signs of Teenager Drug and Alcohol Use

From drug and alcohol leaves an identifiable signs and symptoms. Communicate directly with adolescence. The absolute worst strategy is to ignore it and hope it goes away. An important fact is that virtually all the signs and symptoms of drug and alcohol consumption or withdrawal may be exactly replicated by another mental health problem like depression or anxiety disorder linked. Professional counseling May be indicated.

The Drug Personality - How to Get Rid of the Addicted Label

Addictive personalities or personalities drugs are artificial and added to the individual. How can we stop looking for drug behavior, lies, deception and ingratitude? How can throw the addicts or alcoholics label for life? A look intelligent to the situation reveals that persons of drugs and the "addict" or "alcoholic" labels are artificial - not natural conditions.

Albert Einstein said the type of thinking that created the problem is different than the type of thinking that is needed to solve it. Simply, drug and alcohol abusers need to learn new ways of thinking, new skills and capacities - and that these skills now resident in themselves, in order to remain clean, sober and happy in their new life.

The training of personnel to develop new skills and acquire new capabilities is the path to independence, is also the way for an end to drug addiction.

There are several broad approaches to drug and alcohol rehabilitation:

      * The usual approach is common traditional medicine / advice method plus 12 stages. He believes that once you are a drug addict, you'll always be a drug addict and the only way to manage your addiction through medication is, during counseling, meetings and some spoke a miracle, because this method nets less than 22% success rate. Although some drugs and counseling are needed, we do not believe that drug addiction is a life sentence. Perhaps the labelling of alcoholic and drug addicts and alcoholics explains why more herd are not traditional rehabilitation. From drug and alcohol abusers are unwilling to accept the "addict" or "alcoholic" label.
      * Another more effective approach is to improve its skills and capabilities we are able to lead satisfying lives without the use of drugs or alcohol. The increase above, it is long sought after method - the technology exists, it is real. It is necessary to help achieve the improvement of this level of capacity lies above their current capacity.

If you do not want your loved one to rely on advisers, or other drugs for the rest of their lives, it is time to discard beliefs that say: He or she must be dependent on others, because this is probably why many drug and alcohol treatment resist aggressors.

The fundamental question one asks when deciding a plan of action to end alcohol or drug abuse model is: what can be done to change this behavior? The decision follows the issue. I know it is totally simplistic, but this is not the pattern of questions and answers below most people's reasoning. Families often look for programs available and then adapt them to their loved ones in the system, he expects to resolve them. Sorry, but this is backwards.

Support groups and advisers May be crutches. Some support groups actually apply artificial conditions of dependency, although much of the bond and the right measures are beneficial.

What drugs and alcohol are the aggressors need new capacities, skills and confidences to end dependency on drugs and alcohol and succeed and realize their dreams. They need to get rid of their dependence labels and artificial personality.

Do you want to know how a former drug addict finally ended his addiction to crack after a dozen attempts at rehabilitation? Listen to his testimony while he shared audio how to deliver a home intervention.

Drug Addiction Detox - 2 Methods

The objective of a detoxification programme should be to rid the body of all toxins that May be the cause biochemical imbalances in the body. This includes any drug, as well as dietary habits and environmental toxins.

The symptoms vary depending on the toxins in your body and your overall health status. If detoxification is done properly, the symptoms will be minimized.

In some cases, you should not try to detox on your own. For example, in serious cases of alcoholism, withdrawal can be life threatening. You can experience DTS (delirium tremens) and should be under the care of a professional treatment of drug addiction.

Also, if you made any benzodiazapenes, such as Valium or Xanax, seizures could occur if they should be under care professionals. A program of drug treatment should offer various options for detoxification. Two of these possibilities are listed below.

Treatment with chelation

Chelation is the hotel chelating agents to remove heavy metals from the body. The most common forms of heavy metal poisoning involving lead, arsenic and mercury. The results are improved when chelation therapy is administered in conjunction with oral supplements such as Ginkgo biloba and phosphatidylserine, which act as oral chelators in the body. Chelation has been used on more than one million patients in the USA during the last 50 years successfully.

By chelation can be done as an outpatient, is painless and takes about 3 hours. The procedure is administered intravenously with a solution of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) with vitamins and minerals. Under the comprehensive treatment program, a low-fat diet and exercise is recommended.

Patients interested in chelation must choose a doctor who is known and has completed the training conducted by the American College for Advancement in Medicine (CMAA) or a doctor who follows the protocol of the American Board of Chelation Therapy.

Colon Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy colon is most often provided by specialist treatment centres and sometimes associated with services in naturopathy. He is the irrigation of the colon using a small amount of water or a solution without the use of drugs. The goal is to help the elimination of the intestine. The procedure is used in detoxification of chemical exposure or abuse and also to relieve constipation.

In our society where Eastern and Western medicine combine to give us the best of both worlds, the acceptance of colon hydrotherapy has continued to grow.

The irrigation of the colon should not be used in people suffering from diverticulitis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, or severe internal hemorrhoids or tumors in the colon or rectum. It should not be used shortly after colon surgery (unless directed by your health care provider). Regular salaries should be avoided by persons with heart or kidney disease.

To compare an enema to a colon hydrotherapy - an enema only reached the rectum and lower colon. But with colon hydrotherapy along the entire length of the colon is reached. Colon hydrotherapy uses lower pressures that enemas and is much more effective.

The Steps to Drug Addiction Recovery - 4 Neurotransmitters

The term "addiction" is a word worrying that brings to mind other words equally unpleasant associations as desperate, out of control, hopeless, weak, failure, you can probably add many more . Part of the reason the word is so upsetting is that for most people who try to overcome drug addiction, treatment options were limited and often ineffective.

In fact, "classic" drug treatment programs have a success rate of 25% or less! One of the reasons why I think this is the case, is that these "traditional" programs do not adequately address the physiological basis of addiction, and more specifically the biochemical imbalances that occur in the brains of person with substance abuse. The good news is that solutions exist which would address these imbalances and give hope to those seeking a more permanent solution.

According to Dr. Charles Gant, author of "ending your addiction now," "drug problems are the result of biochemical imbalances that disrupt the normal functioning of brain cells." These imbalances are particularly important in biochemistry of brain cells, or neurons. The neurons produce chemicals called neurotransmitters (brain messengers), and they control virtually all aspects of your life by communicating with other cells.

Four major groups of "brain messengers" are specifically related to drug addiction. These messengers are essential to our ability to experience pleasure and satisfaction. The proper functioning of these neurotransmitters is crucial to our welfare and our ability to operate productively. The four groups of neurotransmitters of endorphins and enkephalins, serotonin, GABA, and catacholamines.

1. Endorphines and enkephalins, two groups of similar structure inhibitor neurotransmitters which are powerful natural painkillers. (inhibitor means that they block or slow down communication between neurotransmitters) drugs that mimic the actions of enkephalins including heroin and methadone.

2. Serotonin, a neurotransmitter inhibitor, which exerts a calming influence on bad emotions and prevents us from overactions. Drugs that disrupt the normal action of serotonin is a class of prescription antidepressant drugs called SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors). This includes drugs like Prozac and Zoloft. These drugs actually make the condition worse since the brain will reduce their natural production of serotonin. And when the SSRI use is stopped, symptoms of serotonin deficiency, such as anxiety, irritability and anger return.

3. GABA, a neurotransmitter inhibitor (similar to serotonin), which helps relieve anxiety and concern influence and intellectual activity. Alcohol and drugs Valium and Xanax are examples artificially affect this neurotransmitter.

4. Catecholamines, a group of similar excitatory neurotransmitter that govern our ability to pay attention and experience the excitement and pleasure. Dopamine is in this category and is known as the "euphoria" neurotransmitter. To better cope in life, people turn to stimulants such as cocaine and Ritalin to try and increase the neurotransmitters catecholamines.

People who have abused drugs that target these neurotransmitters play with fire. In the presence of these drugs the brain begins to change - often attend the artificial stimulation more and more levels. If this stimulation is not available (as when a person tries to stop taking drugs), the person feels listless, depressed and without joy.

But there is hope for those who have abused drugs. Although the abuse led to imbalances of neurotransmitters in the brain, a good diet of these messengers brain can recover to levels of operation. If all of these neurotransmitters can be fed naturally a person is likely to enjoy a healthy physical and mental. Feeding correctly these neurotransmitters is best ensured through a combination of treatments that includes a program called orthomolecular medicine.

In the years 1980, Dr. Joan Mathews-Larson (author of "Seven weeks of sobriety") was the first to demonstrate that medicine orthomolecular approach, when added to conventional treatment psychosocial model, and could double even triple the long-term recovery rate for alcohol and drug addicts. (In the long term is defined here as one to two years of abstinence from drugs and alcohol. This is important because it is easier to show short-term benefits).

This more "holistic" for drug treatment is to give hope to many who have abandoned. Understanding the role of neurotransmitters and thereafter deal with the problem at the cellular and molecular using natural substances and treatment is consistent with long-term and sustainable success.

Psychotherapy Is An Important Tool In The Struggle To Overcome Drug Abuse

Psychotherapy is an important tool in the struggle to overcome drug abuse. Various forms of psychotherapy have been used to help people understand the past and learn strategies for solving problems to deal with many of life's pressing problems. Psychotherapy is known by various names such as therapy, psychotherapy, counseling and psychosocial therapy. Psychotherapy is an important part of a program of drug treatment and any program that you enter must understand as well as individual counseling sessions for the group.

Psychotherapy can help in several ways. , Which include:

* The discovery of effective adaptation techniques and new opportunities to solve problems. Many addicts report of drugs to help them cope with life. Discovering other ways of dealing with the ups and downs of life is essential for sustainable recovery.
* Understand some of the reasons for substance abuse.
* Learn to identify and change behaviors and / or thoughts that can affect your life.
* Explorer important relationships and learning experiences and how they May be to help or hinder your recovery.
* Learn to set and achieve realistic goals. Understand how to think in terms of objectives is an effective strategy to overcome depression.

Psychotherapy is important to alleviate the symptoms of mental illness that May be factors underlying addiction. Therapy May be short term or long term, depending on the individual situation. Psychotherapy sessions can be achieved in a group, family or individual therapy settings.

Before entering into a therapy program, it is important to learn about the type of therapy that seems more compatible with your personality and your problems. Your relationship with a therapist is also critical. If you start with a therapist and do not feel your needs are met, find another therapist or form of therapy. You do not want to waste time or money on a situation that does not work.

A form of psychotherapy which has been particularly useful to a wide variety of individuals, including drug addicts, is called Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). The cognitive behavior therapy is based on the principle that our thoughts (cognition) and beliefs largely determine how we think. In CBT, customers learn to develop a healthy and productive ways of thinking while recognizing and changing thought patterns that cause distress. CBT is designed to help identify and change distorted thinking that leads to feelings and behaviors that are doomed to failure or self-destructive.

CBT students learn to challenge their negative thought through logging and other formats written to help identify ways of thinking and beliefs that cause destructive behavior. This enables them to challenge their negative thoughts and find rational solutions that give them a positive sense of control rather than feeling they are powerless pawns in the game of life. People in this form of psychotherapy learn strategies to manage anger, anxiety and depression, which often go hand in hand with substance abuse.

Although CBT not work miracles overnight, it has been shown to be very effective in changing the type of hope and self-defeating thoughts that can lead to addiction.

While psychotherapy is a vital tool in recovery, it is important to understand that if the physiological imbalances that are causing drug problems are not corrected, the psychological consulting services will be marginal. In other words. . . "psychotherapy" alone will not work! The best way to recovery is a combination of both physical and mental intervention.

Amino Acid Therapy Is A Powerful Natural Means Of Healing And Repair Of Drug Abuse

Amino acid therapy is a powerful natural means of healing and repair of drug abuse. This approach offers a very effective alternative to standard therapies dependence.
It is generally accepted that the 20 amino acids are important for human nutrition for adults. They are the chemical units or "building blocks" of the body that make up proteins. They are all crucial to our health to repair the body, promote the proper functioning of blood, and improving communication in the brain and nervous system.

They are divided into two groups: essential and non-essential. Both types are necessary for human functioning. The difference between the two groups is that most are not synthesized by the body, it is necessary that we have from another source. Because they are not stored in the body such as fat or carbohydrates, we consume on a regular basis to maintain normal physical and mental health.

Essential amino acids (they must come from an external source)

      Arginine *
      * Cystine
      * Glutamine
      * Glycine
      * Tyrosine
      * Alanine
      * Proline
      * Aspartic acid
      * Serine
      * Cystine
      * Taurine
      * Gluatiamic Acid

Non-essential amino acids (not to be confused with unnecessary) that the body can synthesize its own:

      * Isoleucine,
      * Leucine
      * Lysine
      * Methionine
      Phenylalanine *
      * Threonine
      * Tryptophan
      * Valine

Those who are listed in the core group must come from a food source. The foods include cheese, eggs, fish, poultry and meat. These foods are considered "complete protein" insofar as they contain all in the proper ratio.

The sources buckwheat plants, hemp, amaranth and quinoa. Most vegetable sources are weak or lacking certain essential amino acids when eaten alone. The majority of vegetarian diets contain sufficient quantities, because combining certain plants such as rice and beans provides all that is necessary. It should be noted that people with compromised digestive May not be able to synthesize all these elements adequately.

The non-essential elements, although normally produced in the body, may not be adequate because of drug use, stress, or even inherited a large deficit of these substances. In cases like these, supplementation May be necessary.

A crucial debate on these nutrients is essential to the issue of substance abuse, because the lack of aminos has been linked to drug cravings, stress, anxiety and depression. Restore aid to restore the bulk of neurotransmitters that can be damaged by drug abuse. This type of therapy is showing great potential to reverse the brain chemical imbalances caused by drug addiction.

Determine the right combination of amino acids for you is not an exact science (though simple urine is available that can accelerate the process). Even with testing, May you carry out tests to determine what is good for your body.

It is generally preferable to take supplements of amino on an empty stomach, and that, at different times of day to get the desired effect. It is also recommended that you take them with a good product multivitamin that these substances play a role in the conversion of amino acids into neurotransmitters.

The process of finding your optimum level are strengthened if you can find a health professional who is knowledgeable about amino acid therapy and who will work with you as you seek to implement this important information.

Alcohol Cure For The People Suffering Alcoholism

Alcohol ruined many families, it is very necessary to treat drug addicts as soon as possible and the best way to take an individual to alcoholism is rehabilitation of alcohol.

Alcohol ravaging obsession countless number of families, careers and friendships. According to research alcohol, a majority of alcohol addicts discouraged people are psychological treatment is one of the best ways to fight against the drug problem.

Accordingly, the rehabilitation of alcohol offers a variety of programs that best meet the individual needs, which includes residential, hospital outpatient, as well as possibilities for short stay. The difference between residential and treatment in hospital is that hospital services are offered under license by rehabilitating the alcohol only while the residential programs generally do not meet the same standards thorough medical treatments as treatment in hospital. The length of stay patient depends on the stage of dependence.

Almost all rehabilitation of alcohol is gradually global integration previously unidentified methods of struggle with alcohol addicts' feelings of vulnerability.
